Description

An authentic two-storey, Irish-style pub with a hand crafted cast iron mezzanine patio over viewing the gateway to the ByWard Market. Two other patios along the side and in front of the restaurant leaves no doubt that the Aulde Dubliner & Pour House is the best patio in the ByWard Market.

All tables and chairs have been imported from Ireland and the outside look of the pub is as photogenic as you will ever encounter.

With live entertainment Friday and Saturday night in the Pour House upstairs, exceptional selection of Irish Whiskey and draught beers with 21 brands on both floors there's no shortage of ways to celebrate Irish culture.

A Typical Irish Pub

A very average pub at the most touristy point in Canada’s capital. There are a lot of beers on tap and it’s a convenient place to meet in the Byward Market, but the put-on Irish theme is a bit much and there’s no special vibe about the place.

I’ve been here for a cheap brunch a few times. If you stick with the regular bacon-and-eggs type meals (around $7) and stay away from anything that takes a bit of finesse (e.g., pancakes) then you’ll do alright. They actually have Lavazza coffee, higher quality than you typically get in free-refill places like this.

It’s one of a chain of a handful Irish pubs in the Ottawa area. Its sister pub around the corner, the Heart & Crown, is a much better pub.

Drinks:  $6
